About this place
Some diners say the nigiri sushi at Bouzu almost melts in the mouth. The menu includes premium and regular assorted nigiri, as well as individual plates; one plate lists tuna, white fish, eel, squid and prawn. One diner paired an assortment of nigiri with chawanmushi, a savoury steamed egg custard, and akaddashi, a red miso soup. It is a useful option if you want to build a meal around sushi.
For a more substantial fugu meal, consider tecchiri, a hot pot featuring the fish. Course A includes tessa (thinly sliced raw fugu), yubiki (blanched fugu skin), hot pot and rice porridge. Course B also includes fried fugu, so the choice depends on what you would like to try. One diner noted the generous size of the fugu pieces and the ponzu served alongside. A visitor advises that the fugu hot pot requires a reservation, so check ahead if it is what you have in mind.
There are also individual dishes, yakitori and fried foods, giving you options beyond sushi and hot pot. Drinks include Kirin and Asahi bottled beer, Kamotsuru sake and hirezake (sake with grilled fugu fin), as well as shochu highballs in flavours such as lemon and plum. Lunch menus include nigiri and seafood bowls, making Bouzu an izakaya for both midday and evening meals.
